Deacons hold a special ministry within the church. (1 Timothy 3:8-13). Deacons must be ready and able to administer to both the Pastor and congregation and take care of the needs of both. Deacons count all of the church offerings, record receipts and, turn the finance over to the trustee board. The chairman is responsible for carefully overseeing all other deacons and trainees.
This is an order exclusively for women in the church. (Romans 16:1). The deaconess see to the needs of both the pastor and the church including visiting the sick and shut-in; assisting in the preparation of communion and baptismal services. They may be called upon in the time of bereavement, to be of personal aid to the family.
A church trustee board is a group of people that are behind the scenes, but they conduct effective ministry by taking care of church property, approve of church payment of bills, and they provide written financial statements, for the church members to know how the money is being spent.
